Food scraps contribute to numerous environmental problems that we face today.
Research shows that use of a food waste disposer may benefit the environment by reducing the overall volume of waste taken to landfills.
Food scraps and food waste still account for a significant percentage of municipal waste going to landfill. Composting and recycling programs help reduce these numbers, but millions of tons still go un-composted. Food waste, much like human waste, and is made up of 70%-90% water. Using a garburator to safely grind up food waste is an excellent way to divert it from landfills. What's more, today's capable treatment plants can capture the methane from organic waste and convert it to fertilizer and renewable energy (biogas).
