How do our garbage disposals work?
InSinkErator® garbage disposals are designed to grind tough food waste, helping reduce particles left behind that can cause sink odor. Additionally, our innovative design keeps food scraps in the 3D Grind Zone and directs water to rinse the chamber walls clean, for a fresh sink.

Use of Vyv antimicrobial light is not intended to replace manual cleaning and disinfection practices. Sanitization will only function when unit is plugged in and LED lights are on. Testing on a non-enveloped virus (MS2 bacteriophage) showed a 99.985% reduction in controlled laboratory testing in 6 hours on hard surfaces. Testing on SARS-CoV-2 (enveloped virus) showed a 98.45% reduction in controlled laboratory testing in 4 hours on hard surfaces. Testing on Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella enterica and Escherichia coli showed 99%+ reduction in controlled laboratory testing in 24 hours on hard surfaces. Growth of mold (Aspergillus) inhibited (in laboratory-controlled studies with prolonged use).

Never put fats, oils, or grease into a garbage disposal.
Run a steady stream of cold water into the sink before turning on the garbage disposal.
Turn on the disposal before placing any food waste into it.
Gradually feed food waste into the disposal's bladeless grind system.
Avoid putting large amounts of food waste all at once as this may slow the grinding process.
Once the food waste has been broken down, turn the disposal off and let water run for a few seconds to flush the drain pipe.
